Run a slow, repeating frequency sweep to hear where your ringing sits, mark the moments that sound like it, fine-tune the match to the exact pitch, then play CR tones or background sounds.
Start quiet. Use headphones, keep the volume low, and stop right away if a sound is uncomfortable or makes your tinnitus louder. This is a self-help tool, not a hearing test or medical device.
"Even by pitch" spends equal time on every octave, the way your ear hears it. Marks subtract about a quarter second for reaction time.
Octave check: many people pick a tone exactly one octave off. Once you have a match, try ½× and 2×. Choose whichever sounds most like your tinnitus. If your ringing sounds like a hiss or hum rather than a whistle, try narrow-band noise. Drag on the scale above to jump to a frequency.
You can set your pitch and see the four tones below. Playing them needs the full version. Try it free for 7 days, from $4.99 a month.
Start free trialSee plansAcoustic coordinated reset (CR) plays four short tones spaced around your tinnitus pitch, two below and two above, in a new random order every cycle. It follows the method published by Tass and colleagues (2012). It is experimental, and study results have been mixed.
Set the volume just loud enough to match your tinnitus, not louder. The published study used about 4 to 6 hours a day, spread across the day. Use Auto-stop above to end a session on its own.
Steady background sound can make ringing less noticeable. Turn on one or more and mix them with the level sliders. Many people find it works best set just below their tinnitus, so the ringing blends in rather than being drowned out.
On a phone, these keep playing with the screen locked, with play and pause on your lock screen. Level changes take a second to apply.
Built-in laptop and phone speakers often can't play below about 200 Hz or above about 14 kHz, so a match near the edges is more reliable through headphones. Your settings, marks and saved matches stay in this browser only.
